Masquerade

Through photography, painting, and video, the contemporary artists in Masquerade critically explore how personal identity of the self or others is contrasted and articulated in both private and public realms. Examining the fluid and unstable nature of identity, these artists use fantasy, artifice, and deception all elements of masquerade to explore the self, investigate the relationship between adolescence and adulthood, question the role of stereotypes within contemporary society, and examinethe space between illusion and reality.
