Kim Keever: Suspended States

New York artist Kim Keever describes his large-scale photographs as representations of "primitive dream ideas." Beginning with a diorama that he has constructed out of paper, plaster, and other materials within an aquarium tank, Keever subsequently positions many colored lights around the tank, fills it with water, injects liquid pigment into the water, and proceeds to take a series of photographs as the pigment disperses. The resulting images, with hazy atmospheres and saturated color, are enthralling reminders of the awe-inspiring beauty of nature.
