Loy Bowlin: The Original Rhinestone Cowboy

This exhibition presents an installation of the preserved living room of Mississippi artist Loy Allen Bowlin (1909-1995), whose home was no ordinary home. The self-declared "Original Rhinestone Cowboy" used hundreds of thousands of painstakingly applied dots of glitter, combined with paint, foil, photographs, and holiday decorations, to alter his residence. Bowlin covered virtually every wall and ceiling with elaborate collage and painted pattern, transforming his home into a vibrant art environment.
